Austin Steak and Training

Disappointing workout today.

After a full day of recovery yesterday, including a big long stroll around Austin with the illustrious Brad Pilon, I expected to be fresh and strong today. But my right pec is tight and is interfering with pressing. I did a couple of sets and conservatively called it quits.

Might be time for a trip the Active Release expert in Toronto. It's been months since I've been there. Not sure what the problem is now.

On the bright side, I did some challenges that were fun at the end.

1A) Bench Press
1B) Seated Wide Row

2A) Pause Pullups (but using weird grips I'm not used to)
2B) Mobility and Pec stretches

3A) Barbell Shrug high reps
3B) Bike Intervals

I didn't set a bike interval record but one minute all out left me huffing and puffing like I just pulled an early season all-out 40-second shift in a game of ice hockey (back in the day).

Fun times.

Tomorrow I will squat before flying back to Denver for a 10-day visit to the Mile High City and ETR HQ.

Tonight we have more steak and comedy in Austin with the BioTrust gang and my good friends, Pilon, Tyler Bramlett, John Rowley, Shin Ohtake, Joel and Lisa Marion, Lisa's sister, Kareem and Karen Samhouri, and Shaun and Karen Hadsall. So much love for all these good people!

Last night we went to Bob's steakhouse. They have some uniquely delicious Brussel sprouts and a rich rib-eye steak. Good times! But no booze or caffeine for ol' CB. I'm on a roll.

Today...A nice view from the office (hotel room) in Austin this morning ...

Today's Kickbutt Mindset Tip:
Face up to your struggles, tackle them head on, and overcome adversity every day. Whatever is in your way, you're stronger than it, you're tougher than it, and you're better than it. You're going to beat it. Persevere. Stay strong, get stronger, and finish strongest. Turn the bitter into better. And never, ever give up on what is important to you.

And remember...

You don't need the approval of other people to change the way you feel about yourself. What they say - or don't say - doesn't change anything about you and what you know you can achieve.

Push on,

Craig Ballantyne, CTT

PS - One more thing...

The best thing you can do tomorrow is get up 15 minutes early and attack your number one priority first thing in the morning. Your success is your personal responsibility. Take action. Do the first things first. Do what matters even if you don't feel like it.
