Bergen Norway Day 1

We arrived in Bergen, Norway last night at 11pm while the sun was setting. Spectacular entrance.

Today's Meathead workout was done in a dingy hotel basement gym with a cable stack and pull-up bar. It was fun. Followed by an after-workout beverage of what appears to be reindeer juice. Check out my Bergen, Norway photos (including the reindeer juice box) on my Facebook page here:

Going to go walk around Bergen...definitely one of the prettiest little places I've ever visited. And will hike some mountain today or tomorrow. Just finished up a big breakfast with lots of smoked salmon. Catch ya later.

Quick training update: Good times - we used some games with the bootcamps here on the weekend

Today's Kickbutt Mindset Tips:
We can't ask for perfection from others or from ourselves. But we can demand better. We can expect that we should take all the gifts we've been given and make the most of them. We will have bad days. We will have days characterized by exhaustion, frustration, and obstacles.

But we will also have the opportunity to do better on these days than we have in the past. Ultimately, we have the choice to do our best in every given situation. And if we do, we can look back and say, I could have done no better. This was the best I could do. The world will agree. It will take notice. And your reputation will live on.

The Punisher in Lithuania

This morning I woke up at 5am and sat outside my cabin at the resort here in Lithuania. After about 15 minutes of writing, a couple of students walked by, still up from the closing party we held last night. Only 2.5 hours later, they are now up for breakfast.

You have to love the energy of 23 year old kids.

Yesterday we had another bootcamp workout. This one was different, and it used a simple bathroom towel to help us all have great upper body workouts. We finished with 8 rounds of the Punisher. A lot of the kids were able to do it (even if their squats were a little shallow).

Today's Kickbutt Mindset Tips:
It is tempting for us - myself included - to remain in our comfort zones. But that is not where we grow, improve, and make the changes necessary to dramatically move ahead. So my challenge to you to do the opposite. Look at what you are doing to stay in your comfort zone and think, "What is the opposite action of my instinct? And would this opposite action be the better solution?"

Bodyweight Bootcamp Workouts

My lats are sore from doing so many pushups in the Pushup Addiction challenge from yesterday's workout.

Yesterday's bootcamp workout here in Lithuania also involved "The Punisher" and a Push-up Addiction test. It was hot, sweaty, and fun. The kids were loving it.

The punisher is this:

Later today we'll do round 2 of the TT Bodyweight Bootcamp workouts.

Tomorrow we have a new version of the Punisher planned. Xtreme Punisher. Probably also do some bootcamp games too, check them out here:

Hot Summer Euro Bootcamp Workout

Yesterday's bootcamp workout here in Lithuania involved "The Punisher" and a Push-up Addiction test. It was hot, sweaty, and fun. The kids were loving it.

Later today we'll do round 2 of the TT Bodyweight Bootcamp workouts.

Here's a new training idea. Scrap the 7-day revolving program if it's not fitting your schedule. Think about it this way.

Today's Kickbutt Mindset Tips:
The worst attitude to have is to want something for nothing. Entitlement is the 8th deadly sin. Fight it. Deserve what you want. Earn what you get.

Success vs Struggles

Success comes in spurts.

You'll do all this work and feel like you're getting nothing and nowhere...nothing, nothing, nothing...and then suddenly, WHOOOOOSH. Success. It comes in spurts. Never give up.

If you're struggling…if you've lost your job or gone through recent stressful situations, please remember: People don't love you for the job you have, the car you drive, the clothes you wear, or anything...but for you being you. I made this mistake many years ago...I made a situation worse by being really hard on myself because I had my self-identity wrapped up in a certain role that I lost. I was embarrassed and shut out a lot of my friends. That was the WRONG thing to do. I should have relied on my friends because they loved me...just as your friends love you. If you need help, don't be afraid to ask. Never forget that everyone has problems, stress, etc. No one is perfect. We all fall down. But we must all get back up as well. Stay strong. Love those that love you. Be the person that you are meant to be.

"Enjoy life. Treat it as an adventure. Care passionately about the outcome, but keep it in perspective. Things are seldom as bleak as they seem when they are going wrong – or as good as they seem when they are going well. Lighten up. You'll live longer." – Dave Kekich

PS - From my friend and mentor, Mark Ford:

"You get upset about something. It is all-consuming. But you know, deep down, it's not that important. Perhaps this will help. While you are counting to ten, ask yourself these two questions:

1) On a scale of 1 to 10, how much is this bothering me?
2) On a scale of 1 to 10, how important will this seem to me in five years?

Example: My issue with a certain client who is not listening to my advice.

How much does it bother me now? 8
How much will it bother me in 5 years? 0

Asking these two questions reminds me that this is a temporary problem, one I can easily fix by allowing the client to improve or by dismissing him. With that in mind, I can relax."

Postcard from Europe

I have no idea how to use instagram, but I posted a photo of where i am in Europe on this fb page. It's old town Vilnius, in Lithuania.

Wednesday's workout was a total body session done at the Forum Palace gym in Vilnius, Lithuania.

For the rest of the weekend I'll be doing bodyweight workouts, including this bodyweight workout from Adam Steer to help build muscle and burn fat at the SAME time:

The Forum workout was followed by dinner at an Argentine steakhouse in the old town with my friend Simon Black. That dinner was delicious, but breakfast was even better. Let me set the scene.

The sun was shining on the riverbank and the buildings of old-town Lithuania glistened in the distance.

The hotel I was staying at, the Radisson Blu offered a buffet breakfast with its more-than-fair 104 Euro per night rate. After an excellent interval workout in their adequate fitness center, I was ready to dig in.

Were I on a typical Western diet, no doubt I would have filled up on the breads and pancakes with a side of eggs. And that would have been fine.

But my gluten-free breakfast was one of the best meals I'd had since…well, my gluten-free dinner at the Argentine steakhouse in old-town Lithuania the night before.

My breakfast included hard boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, smoked salmon, smoked mackerel (can't find that in North America), grilled tomato, grilled mushrooms, peppers, and fresh pears, peaches, and watermelon. Alongside was green tea with honey. Oh, and some raw nuts and a few dates. Perfect setting for a great meal.

My Gluten Sensitivity test results

I was shocked. These were not the results I was expecting.

In late May, I invested in a genetic testing kit, mostly
out of curiosity, to see if I was gluten sensitive.

It never felt like I had any problems with these foods, like
bread, pasta, oatmeal, or anything that contained flour.

That's why the test results were such a shock.

"Genetic Analysis of your HLA-DQ genes reveals that you
have two positive gene alleles for gluten sensitivity
."

It turns out that I am gluten-sensitive.

So I've stopped eating all traditional sources of gluten
back in June, and the good news is that I don't really
miss anything.

After all, there are so many great foods you get to eat on
a gluten-free diet, such as steak, potatoes, fruit, wine,
chicken, ribs, my beloved almond butter, and so much more.

I feel fantastic (as I always have) and am experimenting in
the kitchen more than ever (i.e. with my great steak recipe).

As a result, I've also updated my Simple Nutrition plan.

Now the guidelines aren't strict gluten-free, and you still
get to eat lots of carbs while losing fat.

But one of the main reasons I've updated it and we're giving
it to you for just $7 this week only on this site:

The $7 Simple Nutrition System

TurbulenceTraining.com/NutritionDeal/

But the price triples on Wednesday at midnight, so don't
miss out on this nutrition deal. You'll want to get started
on this plan early in the week for maximum results.

This is such a simple and convenient way to eat.

You'll feel so much better when you eat the simple way.

Oh, and you'll love the 31 blender drinks too.

Off to make my post-training blender drink,

Lots of work to do today

All work and little play today, as I have only 9 hours left until I have to be at the airport. Heading to Copenhagen tonight and then to Vilnius, Lithuania tomorrow afternoon.

It's my annual trip to Lithuania where I help my friend Simon Black at his www.BlackSmithCamp.com. Should be another amazing year. There are students from over 45 different countries.

After the camp, Simon and I (and some other random adventurers that he's invited, I'm sure) will travel to Bergen, Norway. There we'll be off to hike in the fjords.

But I have a lot of work to get done today. Been up writing for hours already.

One topic I've been working on is a new workout experiment called the "TT Thermogenic Workout". Look for that in September.

In the meantime, do you prefer sets lasting 30 seconds, 40 seconds, or shorter or longer when doing burpees, sprints, etc?

Today's Kickbutt Mindset Tips:
Don't be afraid to ask for help. People want to help you. There are good, positive people out there, online, at work, in the gym, and even on the streets. All is not lost in the world.

But you must be conscious about associating with the right people. Make sure to put yourself in the right environments to build the right relationships.

Don't be upset by things you can't control. And remember rule #12 from my list (and adapt it for your own use), "The opinions of others do not matter. What matters is the number of people that I can help by sharing advice and encouragement in my writing."

If you haven't read my rules, you must. Here's why:

Write down your personal beliefs and allow those to make all decisions. If a request does not fit your belief system, it is ruled out. You don't have to think about it. Develop power of clarity. State out your main objective. If anything gets in the way of that objective, do not participate in it.

Last Lifting Session

This was my last lifting session before my 10 day trip to Europe. On Tuesday night I leave for Copenhagen. After a layover, it's on to Vilnius, Lithuania for a few days. Looks like it's hot and sunny there.

Each year we run this www.BlackSmithCamp.com for young entrepreneurs. Then, after the camp wraps up, it's on to Bergen, Norway, for hiking in the fjords. I'll be packing some warmer clothes for this part of the trip. Looks a little cool there (10 degress celcius at night).

I also plan to watch all 3 films from the Lord Of the Rings Trilogy during my travels. I've only watched the third one (in theater, back in the day). Last night I made it 30 minutes of the way through film 1.

And while I'm gone, I might only lift once or twice. So today's session was the last for a while.

Today's training: Hang clean, deadlift, front squat, good mornings.

Not bad.

BTW, don't miss the $7 deal we have going on Simple Nutrition here until Wednesday.

www.TurbulenceTraining.com/nutritiondeal

Today's Kickbutt Mindset Tips:

Who you associate with is more important than you could ever imagine. Do not accept anything less than the best - otherwise you are cheating yourself. Do not hang around folks that peer pressure you into poor lifestyle choices.

And we must stop listening to those whose criticism is only delivered to hurt us. Look for good, positive people. They ARE out there, online and offline.

If you aren't finding good people now, it just means you are going to the wrong places. Look outside your comfort zone.

Surround yourself with good, positive people…and some that are more successful than you, as you define it. These people will bring out the best in you…helping you "play up a level".

And always help others, the more they benefit, the more you will benefit in return.

Getting Burned

It was a case of "So far, so good."

I was halfway through making my "Great Steak Recipe" on
Wednesday night without incident. By this point on Saturday,
the last time I made this for dinner, I had already burnt my
hand by grabbing a hot pot without an oven mitt.

And then it happened.

As I put the sliced mushrooms, onions, and zucchini into the
skillet, the melted butter and sizzling steak juices splashed
back onto my arm, leaving it covered with little red welts.

Alas, while working to improve my kitchen skills, I'm still
Craig the Kitchen Clutz
.

Frankly, I'm no superhero in the kitchen...just like how
you're no superhero when it comes to creating workouts.

And yet, too many TT readers are trying to "guess" create
their own fat loss programs. Every day on Facebook I receive
questions from readers asking "Does my workout look okay?"

The answer is No.

Your workout, that you designed yourself with no experience,
no research, and no skills, does NOT look alright.

I'm sorry.

You're going to get burned by your self-designed workout just
like I get burned by my lack of skills in the kitchen.

If you want to get real results, without the risk of overuse
injuries (a major problem when readers design their own
workouts), then you need to get the best workouts from the
fat loss masters.

And again, to be frank, there are no better trainers in the
world right now for fast fat loss workouts than John "Roman"
Romaniello and ol' CB (that's me).

Our work is regularly featured in magazines like Men's Health,
Men's Fitness, Oxygen, and even Maxim and Details. Heck, GQ
even stole pictures of me to demonstrate what a ripped body
looks like. And Roman has super-hero abs. Check his website.

The bottom line is that you don't want to get burned by your
workout...but if you keep trying to make your own and you
aren't getting results, then you need to change.

Fortunately, John and I are giving you THREE workouts for
less than the price of one - until Friday only
.

You'll get:

My TT Power Fat Loss Program
My TT Turbulence Rises Program

When you get John's program here, just send us an email with
your receipt and we'll send you your bonus workouts.

Today's Kickbutt Mindset Tips:
All bad times come to end. Until then, we are left with a powerful choice. To quit or to carry on. If we quit, we only make the ending worse. If we carry on, we will feel the situation getting harder at first. However, everyday that you make progress, things will get better and the future will become brighter.

Don't let the negative media, or negative people keep you down. There are good, positive people out there who want to support you. Take action, live by example, attend events, and attract them into your life. Help others, and you will be helped yourself.

Actions speak louder than words. It's time to hold yourself accountable. You can't rely on anyone else to change your life for you. Do you want this or not? Are you going to do this or what? Just remember..."Whatever your dreams are, start taking them very, very seriously." - Barbara Sher ... We all have less time than we think. Take action today.

Craig Ballantyne, CTT

PS - Don't aim at success...

"Don't aim at success - the more you aim at it and make it a target, the more you are going to miss it. For success, like happiness, cannot be pursued; it must ensue... as the unintended side-effect of one's personal dedication to a course greater than oneself." - Viktor Frankl

Monday, July 16, 2012

Your Action

Take full responsibility for your work environment and behaviors. Everything you do sets you up for success or puts another obstacle in your way. And always TAKE ACTION. It is better than doing nothing. Learn from your mistakes and do better tomorrow.

But remember...

Every action has consequences. Can you eat pizza while on a fat loss program?

Yes, as long as you know it could slow down, stop, or reverse your fat loss results. You are an adult. A lot of this is common sense. If you choose to sit on the couch rather than do your workout after a hard day's work, then realize that you will not be getting closer to your goals. If you choose to eat 1500 calories worth pizza and drink 600 calories of soda as you sit on the couch after a hard day's work, then accept the consequences, because you will gain weight. Your results are your responsibility.

Make It Awesome

Each day make your life a little (or a lot) more awesome. Add in small positive rewards and connections everywhere you can. And eliminate the toxic, negative, and harmful influences and circumstances from your life. Baby steps to a better life, every day.

My workout: Deadlift, Military press, narrow stance squat, good mornings.

Lots to do today. Tons of articles to write before I go to Europe later this month. Plus, releasing TT Power Fat Loss later this week.

Today's Kickbutt Mindset Tip:
Reactive people try to "find time" for important things. Proactive people MAKE time for important things. Big difference. And that's why Reactive people struggle while Proactive people succeed. Choose how to use your time wisely on the right things. Be PRO-active, not RE-active.

Guess what Bally did after he puked

Yesterday afternoon old Bally the Dog puked in the lake. And then guess what he did next?

Now let me back up a second…you see, whenever he goes in the water he gets so excited that he drinks in as much water as he can, and it must go down the wrong tube because he always gags. Every time.

But this time, in crowded Lake Ontario, he puked up his lunch.

Fortunately, it wasn't a water-clearing incident like what happened in Caddyshack.

Instead, a little boy beside him started laughing and his mom said, "Don't worry about it. It's not the dirtiest thing in this water." LOL. She's right.

But Bally did the best to fix the situation by gobbling up whatever pieces of vomited kibble he could find.

However, this warning remains…if you're in Lake Ontario this weekend, keep your eye out for floating dog food…

Hope you enjoyed this Friday afternoon funny story courtesy of another zany adventure from Bally the Dog.

Good times. Just like these workouts:

Bodyweight CHAOS and 3's Company Workout Finishers (try these out in your next workout)

Today's Kickbutt Mindset Tips:
The biggest lie we tell ourselves is when we say, "I can't do this. I can't do that". The truth is you don't want to. At least be honest. Start with that. Then see where you can go from there. Take a tiny step into the waters of "Lake Cant" and see if perhaps it's not as cold, dark and deep as you thought it once was. If you try, you will find you You Can.

The mistakes of your past are not who you are now. No matter what you've done in your life you have a second chance that starts today. It is your time to choose who you will be and who you will become, for the rest of your life. You are certainly not too broke to add value to the world, to give, create or inspire. If you need to, let the past go and start fresh, right here, right now.

Big Ideas for You

Day off today, but here are two big ideas for your life.

1) Choose Not to Quit

One day you will sit there, frustrated beyond belief, ready to quit. At that moment, you'll be left with two choices – to quit or to carry on and persevere through the struggles. Frankly, there is only one real option. You could spend the rest of your life wondering about "what could have been", or you can continue down the path of making your dream a reality. The decision is yours.

2) Make the Most of Your Magic Time

There's that time of day for all of us when we find the ability to focus comes much easier than at any other time. For me, it's first thing in the morning. For you, it might be those last two hours at the end of a workday as the deadline looms. Whenever it may be, you must make the most of it. Clear the schedule, eliminate all distractions, and focus. Leveraging your Magic Time is a key factor in harnessing the power of your mind.

Q: On the topic of to bed at sane time and awake at same time, I complete agree I feel better when I'm in bed by 9 I'm always up at 4. Do you think there are seasons where business or family demands make that near impossible or is that an excuse and you'd be more productive in the end of you just stuck to it? Thanks ;) - Rebecca

Answer:
Certainly the holidays will mess with it. And when I travel to Europe and Asia it can be difficult at first, but I get into the SAME-SAME (to bed-wake up) routine as quickly as possible. At Christmas, you might want to shift things a little bit, but just remember, and you know this from working with clients, the further you get OUT of a habit, the HARDER it is to get back into it. Just remember the consequences that come anytime you deviate from your best behaviors. Keep up the great work.

Q: Thanks it's more projects and pressure of feeling like I have to get "one more thing done" that get in the way of "going to bed on time" but you're totally right...I'll keep working on transforming the habit into lifestyle . Make it a GREAT day ;) you are an awesome example of hard work and ingenuity paying off!

Answer:
Also, make sure you don't let your "to do" list become a monster. Keep it realistic. Evaluate all the things on it to make sure they are REAL leverage points. A lot of stuff we think we should do doesn't really matter that much. Make sure you know what is important ... and what is not. And remember the BIG decision in your life - how you use your time. Every second you spend on a useless task or checking another non-essential email robs you of family and personal time. Be RUTHLESS with your time...how you use your time is the most important decision you'll make in your life.

Q: I'm trying to cut down on my information sources right now, so I can focus on GTD. How do I go about reinforcing that discipline? I find myself straying (especially into Social Media) a lot. - James

Answer:
You could use an Internet blocking service (google Internet Freedom). Also, buy my Time Management book on Amazon Kindle. And read the Time Management articles on www.EarlytoRise.com. Make sure to identify your magic time, protect it and foster it. You will triple your productivity that way.

Q: If you have an idea that you want to present to an affiliate to help them work with you, how do you protect that idea so that way they don't take the idea and use it for their own? How do you protect your intelectual property? Thank you! - Steve

Answer:
I know of only two options. 1) Go the legal route and protect it. or 2) Trust the other person not to be a jerk. That said, if they end up being a jerk, sometimes all you can do is just be better than them at implementing. There's a phrase often attributed to McDonalds that you need to instill in yourself: "We can innovate faster than they can copy." I have this faith in myself, which is why I give away so much information about my business. By the time I share my tips and tricks, I'm already on to the next one.

Q: Do you have info on improving your networking skills. I need to learn how to approach local small business owners about my product and need advice on how to do that. - Kevin

Answer:
Even though he is not in your niche, my friend Bedros Keuilian has the best advice for you at www.ptpower.com

Today's Kickbutt Mindset Tips:
Be careful what you tell your subconscious mind that what you want, because you are almost guaranteed to get it. Focus on the RIGHT things. Create your vision, and let all your actions be IN congruence with it.

Prepare and Plan for Success

A productive morning starts with prioritizing and preparing the night before. It's one thing to make a to-do list - that's easy - but it's another thing to be properly prepared to attack each one of those items with efficiency and energy.

No lifting for me today, but thanks to Mike Whitfield, CTT, for helping me create the new "olympic triathlon metabolic finisher" for the upcoming August 2012 TT O-Games Fat Loss program.

As usual, Mike brings the awesomeness. Going to release this one a little early to coincide with the opening of the games. Stay tuned.

Meathead Monday and Planning for Norway

It was another #Meathead Monday. Kind of. No arm curls, but a great lifting workout.

My TT Training: Squat, Jumps, 1-leg squats (pistols), Glute-Ham Raise, and Stability Ball Planks.

In a few weeks from now I'll be going to Europe for 10 days with little access to gyms, so I want to make sure I am able to do the hardest bodyweight moves with good form (i.e. pistols, handstand pushups, etc) for good workouts while I'm gone. I'll also be hiking in Norway, so I won't be doing much strength training anyways. Looking forward to it.

Q: I just graduated from bachelors and got a chance to go and study under one of the most professional businessmen in the hospitality industry in Milan. Do you have any specific suggestions or tips that I should keep in mind while learning from such people in such a new environment? I already started to learn italian and read books about the industry, but is there anything else you say I should pay attention to?

Answer:
Mari-Liis, hey, great to hear from you again, and congratulations on finishing your degree and your new venture in Milan. When you are there, pay attention to a few things. First, the details. Second, the company culture. Third, how they treat their customers. And fourth, what's the big idea that makes them different than all their competitors. Sounds like an exciting journey for you. Keep us up to date on your success. Hope that helps.

Today's Kickbutt Mindset Tips:
Yes, achieving your goals and making progress is hard, but what else are you going to do? Quit? Give up your self-reliance and depend on others? No, you're not going to do that. You're going to persevere and overcome the obstacles that are in your way until you achieve the success you deserve.

Today's another day, so get back on track on move closer to your dreams and goals. You can do it. Don't let yesterday or last week put you off track. You are not the mistakes of your past. You are what you can become. Make each day better than the last.

Why Fat Loss Is Simple

I always get a lot of flak when I say this, but it's true.

"Fat loss is simple once you realize how hard it is."

Then you know how much effort, honesty, responsibility, long-range planning, creativity, intensity, discipline, thought and control the process is going to take. It is not easy. It is not going to happen from any magic pill. Only once you accept that will you succeed.

If you ate too much at a July 4th BBQ or simply binged this weekend, then here's a simple diet program that is proven to help you lose fat fast and get back on track.

Get the Proven Fat Loss Diet here:

For example, my dinner from last night would be "Simple Diet Approved".

I had half a rib-eye steak with grilled asparagus, mushrooms, and onions. Followed that with a light summer's dessert of cherries and a big chunk of my favorite summer fruit, watermelon.

Not too full, not too many calories, but tons of flavor and lots of good eating.

When in doubt, go with the 7-word diet:

Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants.

And a bit of steak.

12-word diet, I guess. :)

Eat simple, eat deliciously, lose fat.

Today's KickButt Mindset Tips:
You must look at what could be, not what is. You can change. Things can be different. It's up to you. So much can be accomplished with a long-term vision and resilience to short-term setbacks.

Never quit. If you stumble, get back up. What happened yesterday no longer matters. Today's another day, so get back on track on move closer to your dreams and goals. You can do it.

Besides, what else are you going to do...quit? NOPE.

An Abnormal Normal Saturday

It's been a normal Saturday morning with plenty of abnormal events. First, the dog puked while we were on our morning walk. I know it had something to do with the rawhide treat that he ate too fast yesterday. Oh well.

Then I went and did an abnormally normal resistance training workout. This involved basic exercises with high reps, based on some new research. All in the name of experimentation for a future TT program.

Up next, getting caught in a downpour while riding my bike home from the gym. Fortunately, I was able to duck into a shop and wait it out.

Got lucky on that one.

Remember...Train with purpose. A lot of hardcore workouts are fun but are you ready? Do the benefits outweigh the risks? Every rep should be purposeful.

www.SuccessQnA.com

Q: When one starts a new business how long would it take before the biz starts yielding good dividends? A month, 2 months?

Answer:
There is no rule about when you succeed. But what does it matter? You just have to start. Please read Michael Masterson's new book, "The Reluctant Entrepreneur" for a guide on getting started.

Besides, what's the point of obsessing about "when" you are going to get results? What are you going to do? Not change for the better? Just start.

Meathead Luck

A little bit of meatheads and a lot of luck today, as you'll learn from my ETR article.

Today's #Meathead Friday training - Hang Clean, Deadlift, Military Press, Front Squat, Good Mornings.

And from www.TurbulenceTrainingFanpage.com

Q: Finishing week 3 of TT2K12. For non-resistance training days, I do the warm up circuit 2-3 times followed by intervals. Which activity for intervals is most effective for fat loss? - Brian

Answer:
Probably hill sprints, but there is no research, just opinion. That said, the stationary bike is safe and effective, and minimizes joint impact. Plus, it's the method that has been most studied for interval training.

Q: What do u think of incorporating 1 minute of HIIT cardio with supersets for maximum fat burning in a workout? - Doris

Answer:
I don't train that way because it takes away from strength. Also, there is no research that shows better results from that method. However, it does trick people into thinking they are working harder. A nice little personal trainer secret.

Also, for the original Turbulence Training, you'll need dumbbells and a bench at home. If you want bodyweight only, check out this program:

And today's www.SuccessQnA.com

Q: How do you pick your number one to do- when they all seem to have the same importance? When I make my list, I get stopped because any would be productive, but then I have too many things to do. - Liz

Answer:
I always struggle when people ask me this question, because I ALWAYS have a number one. The number one is the thing that gets me closest to my vision. If
you haven't done the vision exercise yet, start here, and you'll get clarity
- www.ANewAmericanDream.com

Q: Craig, I reward myself for getting my 90 minutes of work done. Just need the discipline to get started. Self discipline without going to the office challenging. Any training ideas, to get the right habits in place. - Marci

Answer:
The only thing that beats procrastination is to just start. That's it. Eliminate all distractions so that you have nothing to stop you from starting. Maybe reading Steven Pressfield's "Do the Work" or "War of Art" will help, or maybe it will just allow you to procrastinate more. I hope it's the former, not the latter.

Q: Do you recommend building a brand based on your name or what you do? I have the .com for both of these.

Answer:
The name of the website is irrelevant. What matters is the content delivered and the BIG IDEA that you are selling. Brands aren't big ideas. I wouldn't even waste my time thinking about the brand. Besides, websites are cheap. You can have them both and just point them both at the same URL. Again, what matters is the OFFER that is made and content delivered.

Today's Kickbutt Mindset Tips:
You cannot, you cannot, you cannot, you cannot let other people's negativity or beliefs stop you from living the life you want and deserve. You cannot let them stop you.

"You must believe that your past is not your future. You are not stuck or defined by tradition and you don't have to listen to what others tell you to do." – Gayle Carson

Success is all luck, you know. Whether you see yourself as having good luck or bad luck simply depends on how you look at it. Frankly, I think you're blessed with nothing but good luck. I'll prove it to you today.

Success

Success - It all starts with preparation and planning to avoid wrong people/environments/habits & to connect with the right people/environments/habits. Success is simple once you accept how difficult it is.

If you fall off track, cut your losses, don't worry about it, and get right back on track. Immediately. It's minor damage that can be dealt with.

Meathead Workout and Muscle Building Nutrition Tips

Today's #Meathead training was bench press, Db row, Db press, T-bar row, pulldowns, db triceps extensions.

If you're a Meathead like I am and want to build muscle, here are some quick nutrition tips.

First, plain and simple, you need to eat more. Take a look at your current total calories and start by adding 300-500 calories per day, preferably to your last meal before training and to your immediately-after training food intake.

You don't need any fancy supplements, especially those crazy high-sugar weight gainers.

A whey protein powder will help, but they are generally all the same except for taste. I like Prograde's protein powders.

Research shows that you only need 20 grams of whey protein right after training. Your muscles can only use so much, the rest just gets used as energy.

It's like this…

Imagine a box factory that can only put together 100 boxes per day, but the cardboard company delivers enough material for 300 boxes.

That extra material just ends up sitting outside in the rain and gets ruined and goes to waste.

That's the same situation in your body. If your muscles can only use 20 grams of protein after training, then there's no point in giving it 50 grams.

As for other supplements, creatine can help, but just buy the plain CHEAP powder. That's the only kind that has been proven to work in REAL scientific studies.

In fact, one study, where I designed the workout, the group taking plain creatine achieved the greatest 8-week gains in lean mass ever recorded in a research study.

(For you science fiends, here's the study: Creatine-dextrose and protein-dextrose induce similar strength gains during training. Tarnopolsky MA, Parise G, Yardley NJ, Ballantyne CS, Olatinji S, Phillips SM. Med Sci Sports Exerc. 2001 Dec;33(12):2044-52.)
